Indian Music & Dance Collective

This is a rare opportunity to attend a workshop led by maestro of the Bansuri, Rajendra Kulkarni. Acommpanied by Atulkumar Balkrishna Upadhye on violin.

Rajendra's style of Bansuri playing is a unique one, differing from traditional playing by blending the rich qualities of various vocal traditions. His unique style is appreciated equally by music lovers, critics and veterans. Rajendra's reputation is of international standing.

THE BANSURI is a transverse alto flute made of a single length of bamboo and has six or seven open finger holes. There are no keys to produce sharps and flats, therefore all accidentals and microtones, as well as glissandi, so important to Indian classical music, are produced by a unique fingering technique.

Tabla Alba are also hosting a fundraising concert with both musicians, accompanied by Vijay Kangutkar (tabla), on Sunday 29 May 2-4.30pm at St Cecilia Hall, Cowgate, Edinburgh. tickets £7 / £5

Organised in conjunction with Scottish Academy of Asian Arts
